More than just a Mother

Gone are the days when women were just supposed to have kids and stay at home cleaning the house.  Women in the modern world are able to be and do whatever they would like.  Unfortunately, in many religions and even in the thoughts of many people, women are still just supposed to be mothers and nothing else.  Men can be fathers, but also have careers and follow their passions.  Being a parent doesn't stop them.  I believe that women can do that same thing.  Motherhood can still play a big part in a woman's life, but women are more than just mothers.  The modern world is changing and women are going back to work.  They balance the life of motherhood with whatever they are passionate about.  They are mothers, but they are also...

Graduates

Many mothers are going back to school to get their degrees and to further their education. They balance motherhood with school work and even though its not easy, these women know how important an education is. Some might get judged and thought little of for spending time studying and not with their children, but education is something very important to me. I watched my own mother go back to school to receive her masters degree and although it was a hard balance, the value of education is so important. I applaud all women who go back to school to finish while being a mother.

Teachers

Women teach their children. They make sure that their kids receive an education, even if they have to do it themselves. The world knows now that the only way to get anywhere in this world is by having a good education. I agree with this belief and I believe that any sacrifice for education is worth it. Mothers believe this too.

Professionals

More and more women are entering into the workforce. Mothers are pursuing their careers while raising kids. Through media we are taught that you are a bad mother by having a career, but I don't believe that is the case. As long as mothers show love to their kids it wont matter if they have to work while raising children.

Leaders

Women from all around the world are leaders. Women are being elected to represent their countries and this year we even had the first woman to run for president. Due to the beliefs of others, unfortunately she was not elected. But I know that these women, most of who are mothers, can help lead their countries by providing different insights to issues and can help find solutions.

Athletes

Being pregnant didn't stop Serena Williams from playing the sport that she loved. Women compete and follow their passion by participating in sports all the while raising kids. Once a woman is pregnant she is thought to be weak and need help doing tasks, but i know that we are just as tough as always. The world was amazed by Serena Williams, but it just proves my belief that being pregnant doesn't mean one is weak and unable to accomplish amazing feats.

Musicians

Beyonce performed some of her hit songs while she was pregnant with twins. Again the world was worried and told her she needed to sit down and rest, but we can still do what we love even while carrying those we love. She is a mother, but also keeps creating music that everyone can enjoy. She doesn't need to sit and rest, she needs to create and follow her passions.

Warriors

Many women join the military to serve their country. Mothers leave their children to do their duty to make the world a safer place. Popular cultures belief is that mothers shouldn't leave their children to go to war, but I believe that it is everyone's duty to serve in times of need.

Scientists

Women help the scientific community by making amazing discoveries. If these women had just stayed at home these discoveries never would have happened. Little girls often fall into the trap that women aren't good at math and science, but this is not the case. The world tells them through media and stereotypes that they aren't good at these subjects but I know and believe that anyone can be good in these areas of study. I know this because math was always my best subject growing up.

Supporters

Mothers support their children in all that they do and cheer them on in all their endeavors. The world believes that mothers who have careers can't always be there for their children, but I believe that even working mothers do so much for their kids and that they are still their children's biggest fans.  Mothers will always find time to help and support them.

And they Inspire the next generation

Women don't let the next generation fall back into old social rules. They teach young girls that they can be whoever they want to be and can do whatever their heart desires. The world is still trying to force young girls into these social "feminine" roles, but I believe that women are changing that. Mothers are letting their girls be whatever type of princess they want to be and teaching them to go after their dreams and not let the world tell them that they can't.

And even though it's hard to be a working mother,

Motherhood is often defined by others, especially the media. There are such high expectations for the role of women when it comes to motherhood. They are expected to be able to do everything and to do it all perfectly, but that's not a reasonable expectation. They do their best just like anyone else. I believe that mothers may not be perfect, but as long as everyone is safe, life will go on.

Never forget those who appreciate all you are doing.

Motherhood is such an amazing gift that women have been given. It is a huge part of many women's lives, but it isn't the only part. The world may tell women that they are just here to produce and raise kids, but i know there is so much more to life than that. There is worth and value in every mother and they can accomplish all that they set their minds too. Women are so much more than mothers.
